​Ali Gemmer is an emerging artist based in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. As a self-taught creator, she embraces experimentation, working primarily in white charcoal and chalk pastel on black paper. She challenges the notion that drawing is merely a preparatory medium, treating it as a final, fully realized form of expression. Gemmer’s work navigates a balance between realism and abstraction, drawing inspiration from philosophy, compelling visuals, energy, and raw aspects of the human condition. Some pieces carry a deep, heavy presence while others feel lighter, reflecting the complexity of life and existence. Through layers of detail, contrast, and texture, she hopes to create a space for reflection beyond what’s intended behind the work.
